The vast majority of people confuse and misdiagnose themselves and others. The main thing to keep in mind is that sadness is short term, therefore it will have less of an impact on our everyday lives, depending on the severity of the cause. However, if it’s something that affects your life on a daily basis and after a relatively long period of time then something could be wrong. A specialist could be needed and would have to take the appropriate steps for the diagnosis of a possible case of depression or another mood related illness.

EXPERIENCE
Unfortunately, sadness is one of those emotions that can be causeD internally or externally. A thought, while driving your car can make you sad. A sad movie can make you sad. A bad accident can make you sad. They are mostly related to either a past experience or the “What if” experience. For example, I’ve never watched a movie that would make me literally weep like the boy in the stripped pajama. Did I experience the holocaust? No. But it made me feel like what if that was my son? What if I was that kid? That mom? And just hearing the cry of the mom, brought those feelings of sadness. I still remember how it made me feel. By the next day I was living a regular life. The signaling for sadness are also universal. A frown and tears.
