In some theories, cognition plays an important part in emotions. It is said that people who act upon their emotions are not thinking but that they are just getting carried away. Even to feel emotions you think about how you feel, and that gives our brain the emotions. It's important for people to understand these emotions and this means to have emotional intelligence to better understand their emotions.
Emotional Intelligence refers to people's ability to monitor their own and other people's emotional states and to use this information to act wisely in relationships. It is an important part to experience emotions. Emotional intelligence has five parts: 1. Self-awareness: recognizing internal feelings 2. Managing emotions: finding ways to handle emotions that are appropriate to the situation 3. Motivation: using self-control to channel emotions toward a goal 4. Empathy: understanding the emotional perspective of other people 5. Handling relationships: using personal information and information about others to handle social relationships and to develop interpersonal skills To understand your emotions you need to experience both the positive, and negative emotions. For the most part you experience various emotions throughout your daily life and this is a good thing. Whether they are good or bad emotions its important to experience them. In fact, recent studies show that people who experience “emo-diversity,” or both positive and negative emotions, have better mental health. The authors of this study suggest that, “feeling a variety of specific emotions may give a person more detailed information about a particular situation, thus resulting in better behavioral choices—and potentially greater happiness.” |
